After a breathless opening round of the Aviva Premiership rugby fans throughout the country, and indeed around the world, tuned in this weekend expecting the fireworks to continue. Exeter posted a big score on Sale last week showing they have all the tools to put teams to the sword. On Sunday they travelled to Franklin’s Gardens eager to build upon their impressive first showing. The Northampton side would not be easy pickings however. Continue reading

Australia and New Zealand clashed twice in the first two rounds of the inaugural Rugby Championship. The wallabies were defeated 27-19 in the first encounter, and although playing much better in the second, recorded a 22-0 loss. The All Blacks looked far from unbeatable, the Aussies were able to find some possession and opportunities but they did not seem to exert any real pressure on the opposition. London Wasps and reigning champions Harlequins clashed at Twickenham and ignited this year’s Aviva Premiership. Quins managed to overturn a colossal 27 point deficit, scraping the win 42-40, after being cut into ribbons in the outside channels. Although Wasps need to assess their mental endurance and will rue not taking a massive scalp early doors, they will be more than happy with the rugby that they played. Continue reading
